Esta tarde toca preparar ese gran bocata envuelto en papel de aluminio que solíamos preparar de niños (y no tan niños) para ir al cine. ¿Cuál era tu preferido? Tortilla de patata, chorizo de cantimpalo… Para los más perezosos, enfrente del cine hay un lugar donde comprar unas empanadas de escándalo… Todo esto para disfrutar de la sesión doble de Phenomena, The Ultimate Cinematic Experience que hoy celebra su primer aniversario con la reposición de las míticas Tiburón y Alien. 

Phenomena, The Ultimate Cinematic Experience, es un revival que recupera películas míticas de los años 70, 80 y principios de los 90. Una experiencia que, al menos a mí, me transporta a unos momentos inolvidables de mi infancia. ¿A quién no le apetece un cine como cuando éramos niños? Con grandes butacas, bocata, refresco, comentarios simpáticos, y aplausos y griterío en las escenas más gloriosas de cada película? La verdad es que pocos quieren perdérselo y, muestra de ello, es el lleno absoluto en casi todas sus sesiones.

Hoy, quiero felicitarles por su primer aniversario y no perderme ese tiburón que en su momento me hizo pasar alguna que otra noche de desvelos….

This afternoon we should prepare a great sandwich as we used to prepare when we were children (and not so young) to go to the movies. What was your favorite? Omelet, chorizo, salami ... But, for the lazy ones, just in front of the cinema there is a place to buy wonderful “empanadas”! ... All this is to enjoy the double session at Phenomena, The Ultimate Cinematic Experience that today celebrates its first anniversary with those fantastic films; Jaws and Alien.

Phenomena, The Ultimate Cinematic Experience is a revival that recovers legendary films of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. It is a great experience that makes me feel as if I were a child.  Who does not feel like going to the movies like when we were just kids? With great and big seats, sandwiches, soda, friendly comments, clapping and yelling in the most glorious scenes of each film? The truth is that anyone wants to miss it and to prove it… the sold out in almost every session.

Today, I want to congratulate them on their first anniversary and I would not miss that “shark” that once made me spent sleepless nights...

The Confidents and Wanda Jackson. Welcome to the 60s.

The Confidents, a fantastic band from Barcelona, dedicated to the beat and rock and roll from the early 60s will warm the atmosphere at Sala Bikini to welcome Wanda Jackson, the Rockabilly Queen. In Diana´s (The Confidents) words, "if Elvis were a woman, he would be Wanda ... this woman was a legend in the 50s and she still retains her peculiar and characteristic voice".

The Confidents, una formación barcelonesa dedicada al beat y al rock and roll de principios de los 60s calentarán el ambiente de la Sala Bikini para recibir a Wanda Jackson, la reina del rockabilly. Según Diana (The Confidents), “si Elvis fuera mujer, sería Wanda... esta mujer era una leyenda en los 50s y aún hoy conserva esa voz cristalina y desgarrada que la caracteriza”

Cloudy and rainy days show us that the autumn is here. But, no worries, what better idea to enjoy those days than this: In-Edit, Barcelona International Music Documentary Film Festival. From today, to November 6^th we will be able to enJoyBcn with more than 40 films. Opening night goes to Michael Nyman in Progress but other really good films completely the agenda for those days.

Almost one year ago I posted Wake up world and just one year before I´ve been in one of her concerts in Barcelona. Pure energy, her voice is her identity. I wasn´t expecting such a good concert when we decided to take a chance on this “Afro-German warrior princess” (as it says in her website: http://www.nnekaworld.com).

NNEKA, pura energía!

Hace casi un año que publiqué mi post Wake up world y casi un año atrás que tuve el placer de asistir a uno de sus conciertos en Barcelona. Energía pura, su voz es su identidad. Realmente fue todo un descubrimiento ver a esta “princesa guerrera afro-alemana” (como dice su biografía http://www.nnekaworld.com). Te invito a que hagas lo mismo. La piel que habito, de Pedro Almodovar

The Skin I live. At the end of the movie, my friend said: "I ​​do not know if I like it or not, I’m still thinking about it…”. I liked it. Perhaps it is just too far-fetched to be true.  But there is something true;  Almodovar´s essence is in the movie, from the beginning to the end. A drama dress up of comedy that makes you leave the theater with a smile. Do not let anyone tell you about it, it loses its charm. Go, watch it, and tell me what's up?

La piel que habito. Al salir del cine, mi acompañante dijo: “no sé si me gusta o no, aún la estoy asimilando…”. A mí me gustó. Una historia rocambolesca con sello Almodovar de principio a fin. Un drama disfrazado con pinceladas de comedia que te hacen salir del cine con una sonrisa. No dejes que te la cuenten, pierde su encanto. Ves, y cuéntame qué tal.
